Former Boston Red Sox star and Alva resident Mike Greenwell crushed former Lee County Commissioner John Albion and Chiropractor Joe Gambino in the Republican primary Tuesday.
Greenwell, who was appointed to fill the late Fran Mann’s district 5 seat on the Lee County Board of Commissioners in July, hauled in about 70% of the vote Tuesday. Albion was a distant second with 20%. Gambino scored 10%.
Greenwell will face off against Democrat Matt Wood in November.
