Former Boston Red Sox star Mike Greenwell, who lives in Alva, is running for the Lee County Board seat now open after the passing of Commissioner Frank Mann. On July 14th from 5:30-7PM Greenwell is hosting a campaign kick-off celebration at 31 Produce in Alva. Greenwell will be on Beach Talk Radio two days later.

Greenwell says Lee County is his home. “It is where I grew up, where I learned to play baseball, and where I returned after my career as a professional baseball player with the Boston Red Sox. I could have chosen to live anywhere in the world, but Lee County is the only place I wanted to raise my family and build my businesses.”

Greenwell can see the growth in Lee County and says the infrastructure needs to keep pace. “Roads and utilities need to be improved and expanded across the county, especially in areas like Lehigh Acres. We must tackle these issues head on, for the sake of future generations. My plan is straightforward- lead with conservative principles. We must keep taxes low, protect our local businesses, reduce burdensome regulations, be good stewards of our environment, and be frugal with your tax dollars.”

The special election primary will be held August 23rd.
Also running for the seat on the Republican side are former Lee County Commissioner John Albion and Joe Gambino. The winner in the primary will face Democrat Matt Wood in the general election in November.

Greenwell is the owner of Produce 31, a fresh fruits and vegetable market and Big League Builders, a custom home building contractor.

Greenwell will be our guest on Beach Talk Radio Saturday morning July 16th at 9AM
