Members of the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation have voted unanimously to donate $1,000 to Put It On Pete’s Tab, the fundraising team for the hospitality workers of the Island Cow Restaurant on Sanibel.
The Island Cow, a local family-owned business that has been operating on the island for more than 15 years, has been closed after an after-hours kitchen fire erupted back on August 6th. The restaurant has over 50 employees who face unemployment as the restaurant rebuilds.
FMBCF President Robin Bush said, “While our focus is our community family on Fort Myers Beach, we realize our neighbors on Sanibel Island need assistance. The dedicated Island Cow employees are in our thoughts during this time of uncertainty.”
During the pandemic, the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation was part of the team that created the #WeAreFMB initiative providing support to the hospitality workers on Fort Myers Beach. Raising over $65,000 in three months by selling #WeAreFMB merchandise, gift cards were given to those in need on Fort Myers Beach. The initiative continues today through the Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation.
