Turtle Time reports that as of the end of this week, there are now 109 nests on Fort Myers Beach. There have also been 158 false crawls on Fort Myers Beach. 66 nests have hatched. Here’s how Fort Myers Beach stacks up against the other beaches.

SCCF reports Sanibel now has a total of 571 nests. On the east end of Sanibel there are now 95 nests (89 Loggerhead and 6 Green), from which 2349 hatchlings have emerged. East has had 150 false crawls.

On the west end there now 476 nests (465 Loggerhead and 11 Green), from which a whopping 17,962 hatchlings have emerged. West has had 525 false crawls.

Captiva now has 211 nests, all Loggerhead, from which 4,599 hatchlings have emerged. There have been 350 false crawls.

Bonita Beach now has 283 nests and 255 false crawls. 150 nests have hatched.

Remember, only 1 to 4 hatchlings out of a thousand hatchlings survive to adulthood. They are part of the food chain in the ocean; therefore, we need to get as many as possible into the ocean: No deposit-No return. Disorientations can be catastrophic to sea turtle conservation. Keep your lights off, close your drapes, fill your holes and do not leave garbage on the beaches.
