Lee County Domestic Animal Services is once again participating in NBCUniversal Local’s Clear the Shelters, the nationwide pet-adoption campaign that helps homeless pets find loving homes.
From Aug. 1 to Aug. 31, LCDAS will join more than 1,600 animal shelters and rescue organizations in promoting pet adoption and raising awareness about the thousands of animals waiting for families.
To celebrate the month-long campaign, adoption fees will be reduced throughout August to $40 for dogs and $20 for cats with an approved application. In addition, all adoption fees will be waived on Saturday, Aug. 15, during Lee County’s Clear the Shelters adoption event, giving even more families the opportunity to welcome a new pet into their home.
Since its launch in 2015, Clear the Shelters has helped more than 1.3 million pets find loving homes and has generated more than $5.6 million in donations to participating shelters and rescues nationwide.
“Clear the Shelters is one of our favorite events of the year because it shines a spotlight on the incredible pets waiting for homes,” said Pablo Adorno, director of Lee County Domestic Animal Services. “Every adoption changes a pet’s life while creating space for another animal in need. We encourage the community to visit the shelter this August — you may just meet your new best friend.”
