With the addition of a second location in St. Pete, Marty Harrity and his team at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille are opening their 5th location. Doc’s also has locations on Fort Myers Beach, Captiva and Sanibel.
The new location will be at 8790 Bay Pines Boulevard, formerly the Green Iguana Bar and Grill.
Joe Harrity from the HM Restaurant Group tells Beach Talk Radio News they’ve had great success and have been very fortunate with the opening of the St Pete Pier location this past summer, and have really enjoyed being part of the St. Pete community. “When this location (Bay Pines) came on the radar, we thought why not create more opportunity for people while staying in an area we’ve come to know and love. St. Pete has been good to us, and working with the city on the pier project was great. The new location located in the Bay Pines area is about 20 minutes west of Downtown St. Pete, and we’re really excited to spread our brand that way. It’s located on the water, and has been approved for transient docks to be built right in front which is really exciting for us, and fits our brand well. ”
Of course every local knows that Doc Ford’s is inspired by a character from Randy Wayne White’s best-selling novels who is also a partner in the restaurant group. In the novels, Marion “Doc” Ford is a marine biologist and environmental consultant living in Florida. Doc’s past includes being a covert government agent.
