Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno held a press conference with law enforcement agencies across Southwest Florida on Monday morning. They announced there will be a stepped up effort to keep drivers safe on the roadways.
Expect to see more law enforcement presence on all the roads making sure drivers obey the speed limits. The goal of Operation Slow Down is not to give out tickets. It’s to educate people first.

Ed gets pulled over for rolling through a stop sign on Crescent Street, meanwhile in the mornings when the contractors are driving 50 miles an hour down Estero Boulevard, the two sheriffs deputies are either sitting together at Mom‘s, back by the school, or behind the Lutheran Church doing nothing.
I have a suggestion for FMB. Post signs that say, “Slow down, you’re on island time”.
