Greenland Paddling and Seal Hunting Culture will be the second talk in a series of free Calusa Blueway-related programs on Tuesday, March 4th at 6:30PM at the Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center on Bass Road in Fort Myers.

Pete Hohmann will discuss and demonstrate Greenland paddling and seal hunting techniques used by the Inuit.

“It will be fascinating to hear Pete discuss the origins of kayaking and the more than 30 types of kayak rolls used by the Inuit,” said Calusa Blueway Coordinator Mike Hammond of Lee County Parks & Recreation. “We’re also in for an exciting experience seeing an actual harpoon in action—I believe this will be a first for us.”

The Calusa Blueway Paddling Trail is a 190-mile canoe, kayak and SUP trail that meanders throughout Lee County’s waterways. Trail information is at www.calusablueway.com or www.leeparks.org/blueway.
