Lee County Approves $1.3 Million For Beach

The $1.3 million is coming to the beach from the Tourist Development tax. Only the City of Sanibel received more ($2 million) from the $3.5 million set aside for beach and shoreline projects.

Fort Myers Beach will get $967,625 for beach and shoreline maintenance, $300,000 for Estero Island Renourishment and $32,013 for beach erosion and monitoring.

The Lee County Visitors and Convention Bureau administers the Tourist Development Tax funding for Beach and Shoreline projects.


Other beach and shoreline projects to be funded include:

Captiva Erosion Prevention: $395,000
City of Cape Coral/Beach Park Facility Maintenance: $140,000.00
Barrier Island Park Society: $58,000
Gasparilla Lighthouse Dune: $24,175.00
