Lee County Domestic Animal Services will host a Responsible Pet Ownership Seminar from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 12, at the shelter located at 5600 Banner Drive in Fort Myers.
The free seminar is designed to help current and prospective pet owners better understand their responsibilities and provide the best possible care for their pets. Space is limited. Register by emailing KHoel@leegov.com
The seminar will cover a variety of topics designed to give pet owners the knowledge and resources they need to keep their pets safe, healthy and happy. Attendees will learn about Lee County ordinances pertaining to pet ownership, including important requirements that apply to pet owners throughout the county. The seminar will also cover basic pet care, including proper nutrition, exercise, identification and other ways to help keep pets safe. Information about routine and preventative veterinary care, vaccinations, spay and neuter requirements, and other medical needs will also be discussed. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about responsible pet ownership practices and ask questions about caring for their pets.
As an added benefit, each household attending the seminar will receive two vouchers for spay or neuter services. The vouchers are limited to two per household, and you must be a resident of Lee County.
The seminar will provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and learn practical information that can help them become more informed and prepared pet owners.
Lee County Domestic Animal Services serves as the county’s only stray intake facility, providing care, shelter and second chances for thousands of animals each year. With community support, more pets can find their way to loving homes.
Adoptions take place at the shelter, 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers. Adoption hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Adoption applications can be submitted electronically at www.leegov.com/animalservices/adopt. They can also be printed and faxed or brought to the shelter. Or they can be completed in person.
