On Tuesday, the LPA approved the new Woman’s Club building which will be rebuilt on Sterling Avenue. It’s now onto the Town Council for final approval. Then, it’s all about raising the money to make the building a reality.
The building was designed by Albert Dambrose at Studio AD with help from Jim Ink from Ink Engineering.
The previous Woman’s Club building on Sterling Avenue was completely destroyed by Hurricane Ian. The organization has been in fundraising mode ever since trying to put together enough cash to come back with a new multi-million dollar multi-purpose facility to serve the Fort Myers Beach community. Events the organization sponsors include the Christmas Tree Festival, The Putt & Pub, and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The original Woman’s Club building had been on the property since 1947 and it became the Woman’s Club in 1950. The organization held many fundraising events on the property and in the building that was washed away by Ian.
The previous structure on the property was just under 3,000 feet. The proposed new building is a total of just over 15,000 square feet (6,737 square feet under air, 838 square feet of deck, and 7,575 square feet of ground floor).
Help us help the Woman’s Club rebuild by becoming a permanent part of the Yellow Army Mosaic Wall. With a $50 donation your picture will be part of the wall in the Woman’s Club lounge forever. Detals HERE.
Become a Woman’s Club member (men are allowed) for $75 per year HERE.
We will carry the meeting live on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.

SO glad to see this story! I can’t believe what you are doing! I joined the club a few years ago but am a Snow Bird so didn’t get to participate much. Then the hurricane hit and I have never received any information about joining again. I belong to the Dayton Woman’s Club in Dayton, OH, and know the value of a club like yours. God bless your work — and send me an application! I couldn’t get the computer stuff to work for me. I am “olde”! Thanks, Diane Phillips
Women’s club? That sounds exclusionary and a little sexist no?
Excellent news. The building looks fantastic and is such an asset for the beach. The Women’s Club represents all things good about FMB. Community spirit and service will thrive .
