And the Fort Myers Beach Fireworks celebration was a huge success. The 20-minute fireworks show the town hosted was spectacular with a grand finale that had everyone in awe. Watch that grand finale HERE.

The 4th of July Fireworks Celebration was the first major event held on Fort Myers Beach since the start of the pandemic. And while there wasn’t enough time to organize the annual parade, the beach was packed and the restaurants and bars were busy all day long.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department was everywhere on Sunday. The old Mermaid building was being used as a command center location, deputies were seen riding ATV’s, on foot, in vehicles at the foot of the bridge and elsewhere, and when the fireworks began they could be seen on rooftops. There were no major incidents reported.

During the pandemic, the fireworks vendor the town of Fort Myers Beach used, Garden State Fireworks, had been storing the fireworks. Both the 2020 July 4th fireworks and the New Years Eve fireworks had to be canceled due to COVID-19.

The next major event on the beach is in September, the Chamber’s Tapa Hop.
