New Lee County Commissioner Sworn In

Patricia Petrosky was sworn in as a Lee County Commissioner Monday afternoon on the steps of the Old Lee County Courthouse in downtown Fort Myers. Petrosky will participate in the next board meeting on January 20th.

Governor DeSantis announced the District 5 Commissioner’s appointment on December 12th to take the seat Mike Greenwell held. Greenwell died in October at the age of 62 from medullary thyroid cancer. Greenwell was reelected to his seat in November of 2024. Commissioner seats are for 4 years.

There will be a special election for the seat November 3rd 2026 with a primary election on August 18th. Amanda Cochran has announced she will be running for the seat in 2026. Greenwell defeated Cochran in the 2024 election.

The oath was administered to Petrosky by Stacey Rohland, notary and executive assistant to District 5.

District 5 covers the northeastern part of Lee County, including Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers, Alva, Olga, and Buckingham.
