Compass Rose Marina, a luxury marina located on Main Street on San Carlos Island, is set to break ground on a brand new facility Thursday, June 1st. The new dry rack storage facility will be built to withstand 200 MPH winds.
Property owner Jack Mahyer has big plans for his new facility which he says will be high enough to protect boats from potential storm surge and in a facility strong enough to withstand that next big storm.
The new marina will offer 286 dry rack slips, 29 wet boat slips, and a boat launching facility. The dry rack facility will be built to withstand category 5 strength hurricane conditions. The new marina will be able to store boats up to 50 feet in length.
The June 1st groundbreaking will take place from 7:30AM to 9AM.
Looking good.
Very exciting for San Carlos Island!
Let’s hope they get that condo up soon too. That side of back bay needs it badly, and I look forward to that development on main street and much more! Been badly lagging for many, many years.
Agree!!!
What about the huge condo and commercial part he proposed?
Huh?? Never saw any such proposal for this marina on San Carlos Island.
I read 75 condos and 15 townhomes, ships store and a restaurant.
Gayle, I saved the original information. There was so much more he was seeking zoning for, and wonder if he is just starting with this and then going for the rest again.
I totally missed that… didn’t realize there was more to the original plan. Is that online anywhere? Would be curious to see it.
