London Bay CEO Mark Wilson will be our guest for a special interview Monday at 3PM, hours before he goes before the LPA to pitch his plan to redevelop the old Outrigger property on the south end of Fort Myers Beach.
The London Bay/Outrigger property proposal is the only item on the LPA agenda. It is the biggest project to come before the LPA since Seagate years ago. The proposal includes 5 buildings: 15 stories, 12 stories, 11 stories, 9 stories, and 3 stories. It also includes a small Tiki Bar on the beach that south end residents have been asking for. The property is 3.55 acres.
London Bay is asking for 13 deviations from the Land Development Code. Town staff says the proposal does not meet the criteria set forth in the LDC and recommends 25 conditions if the LPA and Town Council choose to approve the project.
The interview with Wilson will be broadcast live on our Facebook page and YouTube Channel. You can set yourself a reminder to watch the interview with Mark Wilson HERE.
We will carry the LPA meeting live starting at 9AM on our Facebook page and YouTube Channel.

It’s clear that these developers do not care about FMB otherwise they would meet with the residents, listen to them and come back with a more reasonable building plan.
London Bay has had repeated meetings with the public.
Hi Ed, Can you please ask the following questions
1)why they will not speak with the residents around the development
2) what are their plans are for Charlie’s and driving a water taxi down our canal on an hourly basis.
3) what are there plans to help the town with infrastructure on the island. Right now we have problems with water pressure and traffic. If they say they are not going to do a water taxi down our canal, which I think it will happen one way or another, then what are their plans to help with traffic flow. We still have traffic flow issues so they need to have a proposal. I know they stated that one of their benefits would be access to the beach, we no longer need that on the south side of their development is a very nice walk way right to the beach. We need to know how the island is going to survive with all of the extra traffic and utilities supply.
So, it’s almost a certainty that the Town Council will reject the 15-story condo portion of the building. However, if they propose a 12-story condo portion, as the Diamond Head is proposing, they should be good to go, I’m assuming.
Ed, can you please ask Mark Wilson why London Bay has not met with any residents near the property to discuss the local residents concerns and how London Bay will mitigate those concerns? Thanks
Arnie they did have an open meeting Jan 12th at Island Winds. It wasn’t well attended.
I went in totally opposed, and surprisingly, left in favor of the project!
Let’s hope it all get approved.
