Well, actually it’s a new bathroom. The old one that had been at the beach access on Palm Avenue from 2009 to 2017 was removed when Hurricane Irma approached. It was in too much disrepair to bring back.

The town council approved a resolution to spend $70,600 on the restroom facilities which will be reimbursed to the town from Lee County Tourist Development tax funds.

The new restroom trailer features one ADA compliant restroom suite, one women’s restroom and a men’s restroom, each with a separate entrance. The ADA compliant restroom includes an ADA compliant sink, shatterproof mirror, porcelain toilet, and grab bars.

The women’s restroom includes a vanity and sink, shatterproof mirror, and porcelain pedal flush toilet.

The men’s restroom includes a vanity and sink, shatterproof mirror, one urinal, and one porcelain pedal flush toilet.

The trailer includes a 105-gallon freshwater tank and 360-gallon waste tank.

The town is purchasing the trailer from a company called Ready2Go restroom trailers.
