The Lee County Department of Transportation has officially started work on Estero Boulevard from Estrellita Drive to Crescent Street. The work is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2027. The project cost is approximately $9 million.
The project includes repairs of damaged asphalt, curb and gutter, sidewalk, pavement, pedestrian handrail, school flashers, pedestrian signals, as well as the removal and replacement of the pervious paver drainage facilities. The contractor will also replace ADA ramps and detectible warning surfaces.
Crews are beginning work at the south end of the project due to seasonal congestion to the north. Where possible, the contractor is limiting work zones to ensure pedestrian connectivity along Estero Boulevard. Lee County encourages motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists to slow down and use caution as crews work close to the travel lanes.
The project – officially called the Estero Boulevard Hurricane Repairs Project – is a Lee County project and is independent of any Town of Fort Myers Beach work that may be occurring in the same area.
The contractor is Wright Construction Group.

When this project began, we all believed that somebody would have a job for life replacing and fixing the bricks. Heck, they couldn’t even get it right in front of the original Tuckaway location. Tre and Amy had to put up with uninstalling and reinstalling of the drainage bricks several times in front of their business. I’m sure it caused less people to frequent their business.
