The Florida Department of Transportation announed Monday that at 9:30AM the new light at the base of the bridge before heading over to Fort Myers Beach will go live.
The light has been flashing since last week to help give drivers the heads up that the new light would be switched on soon.
The new signal at the intersection of Fifth Street and San Carlos Boulevard went live two weeks ago.
The new lights are part of FDOT’s road construction project that includes a roundabout at the base of the bridge, new sidewalks and landscaping, several pedestrian crossings, two lanes coming over thebridge to the beach and a new traffic light on the other side of the bridge at Main Street.
