That’s what State Rep. Ryan Chamberlin wants. He believes property taxes need to go and they need to go now. He says he’ll be working on eliminating property taxes completely during the next legislative session in Tallahassee.
In our interview last night on our Talk of Southwest Florida channel, Chamberlin said he does not believe local municipalities do not have fat to cut. He does not believe services need to be cut. He does not believe fees have to be raised. And, he does not believe municipalities will honestly open up their books to voters.
Chamberlin generally believes local governments have gotten too big and taxpayers should not have to pay property taxes. Period.

Why not start at the top, with cutting out the unnecessary in the Capitol? Start of with the foolish re-naming every thing that doesn’t have a certain persons name on it? The banner/street sign, etc is only the first expense. Encourage more of those things that we have an abundance of… Like sunshine. The technology is there, but it hits into the pockets of those that want to be re-elected, by those industries that don’t want any alternatives…
Just a thought.
Taxes are absolutely out of control in this country as we are continually taxed upon taxed on our wages, social security, savings, investments etc.
Where does it end?? and where is all that money going? I’m sure we will never know, I do know it affects everyone’s quality of life, especially the hard working blue collar class.
For the most part, I agree with Gayle, government at all levels (Federal, State and Local) has grown much too big and is much too intrusive. Now, career politicians on both sides of the aisle want to make government bigger and control every aspect of our lives.
I agree with part and disagree with part. Yes, there’s fat to cut locally. Yes, local government is put of control. However, state and federal governments are also out of control and overreaching. Government mentality,at all levels, has got to change. Unfortunately this proposal exemption departments that have the most significant fat. We need to go back to control at the lowest possible level. State (as in this) and federal (think education) mandates are crippling local governments. Commonsense is nonexistent.
