The Regular Route is Back For July 4th Parade

Late last week Town Manager Andy Hyatt announced that the 4th of July parade route will take the same as it has in past years. Public Works Director Jeff Hague told TDC members earlier in the week that parade would begin at Bowditch Beach Park on the north end of Estero Boulevard.

The town was contemplating the route change to prevent from having to close the Matanzas Pass Bridge down twice in one day. The bridge will also be closed for Fireworks later in the evening on the 4th. However, after feedback from local businesses on Estero Boulevard and parade watchers, Hyatt decided to keep the parade route the same.

The parade will begin at The Beach School and travel north on Estero crossing over the base of the bridge and end around the Times Square area or near Old San Carlos.

Bowditch Beach Park, which is owned by Lee County, is still closed due to damage from Hurricane Ian. It’s on the same reconstruction timeline as Lynn Hall Park, which is years away from rebuild completion.
