SCCF is looking for volunteers to count the birds. Global shorebird counts have been done as part of World Shorebirds Day since 2014. It helps spread the word about shorebird conservation. September 6th is World Shorebird Day.
Volunteers are being enlisted for the East End from the Sanibel Lighthouse to Tarpon Bay Road on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 7:30am. Survey routes range from one half to 1.25 mile and are divided up by available parking. No experience is necessary.
What participants need: transportation, binoculars, and an A, B, or C Sanibel parking pass.
If you are interested in participating in this survey, please send an email to SCCF Shorebird Biologist Audrey Albrecht at shorebirds@SCCF.org.
