Fort Myers Beach Town Manager Will McKannay has now been running the island for one year. As required by their Charter, the Town Council will review his performance in the Sunshine at a public meeting. That meeting is Monday at 9AM.
Each council member was required to submit wrtten performance evaluations to the Town Clerk by may 11th.
McKannay was hired in may of 2025, replacing Andy Hyatt. He signed a 2-year contract at a salary of $200,000 per year. He was also paid $22,500 to relocate his family from Colorado. The salary the town will pay McKannay is approximately the same as what was being paid to Hyatt.
McKannay is a former Commander in the U.S. Army in Fort Riley, Kansas.
