The Publix Supermarket, located at 4791 Estero Boulevard, may soon have a liquor store attached to it. On Monday the town council will consider a motion to grant the 1,500 foot liquor store to publix. The town has been pressuring the supermarket giant to improve the traffic flow exiting the property.
Publix has been working with Lee County on design concepts for the access from Estero Boulevard and it may be that the town approves the request contingent upon Publix improving the traffic flow.
The reason Publix needs the town’s permission to add the liquor store because the town’s Commercial Planned Development does not allow liquor sales.
The 28,000 square foot Publix Supermarket was developed in 2000 on the beach after the property was rezoned from Residential Multiple-Family to CPD.
