Join Barbara Puffer, Ellie Bunting, Anita Turner and others for a retrospective about three of the churches that formed faith communities and gathering centers on Fort Myers Beach in earlier decades. The event is Monday, March 9th from 1PM to 2PM at St. Raphael’s Episcoipal Church on Williams Drive.

Although all seven churches on FMB were destroyed or heavily damaged by Hurricane Ian, St. Raphael’s has reopened, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will offer an Easter sunrise service, and the Catholic Church of the Ascension plans to rebuild.

Ellie Bunting is on the Board of St. Raphael’s Church. Barbara Puffer was the historian for the Parish Catholic Women’s Club who wrote a 40-page book that Barbara will share, along with published Diocesan plans to rebuild the Parish campus by the end of 2027. Anita Turner is a long-time parishioner of Chapel by the Sea. A member of the congregation from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church will also participate.

  1. I’m excited to be presenting the St. Peter portion of the program. St. Peter has been on FMB since the ‘60’s!
