According to Acting Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief Scott Wirth, the preliminary findings, after the investigation, show that the Bay to Beach condo fire was likely an accidental electrical fire.
The Bay to Beach condo building on Estero Boulevard erupted in flames in the early part of the afternoon this past Saturday. It appeared as if the flames were above the top floor of the condo building and below the roof. Fort Myers Beach Firefighters fought the blaze for several hours before it was deemed under control a few hours later.
Wirth says the State Fire Marshall’s Office has the lead on this and until they complete their investigation and report, “we cannot definitively state this as the final determination.”
The building was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries. Repairs were being made to the structure following Hurricane Ian.
