Less than a year after its formation, What’s Up FMB continues to build momentum as a community-driven nonprofit dedicated to supporting Fort Myers Beach businesses, residents, and visitors through events, partnerships, and island-wide initiatives.
Since launching in July 2025, What’s Up FMB has grown to more than 100 business members, nonprofit partners, and individual supporters who share a common goal of strengthening the Fort Myers Beach community and supporting year-round economic activity.
One of the organization’s most significant accomplishments this year was helping bring Fourth of July fireworks back to Fort Myers Beach. Through community partnerships, local business support, sponsorships, and donations, the organization successfully helped fund the return of one of the island’s most cherished traditions.
“Seeing our community come together to support the fireworks was truly inspiring,” said Dawn Miller, President of What’s Up FMB. “The success of this effort demonstrates what can happen when businesses, residents, and visitors work together to invest in Fort Myers Beach.”
In addition to supporting the Independence Day celebration, What’s Up FMB continues to host and promote a variety of initiatives designed to drive visitation and support local businesses.
The Island Charm Crawl, which launched earlier this year, has welcomed hundreds of participants exploring businesses throughout the island while collecting unique charms and discovering new shops, restaurants, attractions, and experiences. Due to overwhelming participation, the program has been extended through October.
The organization is also continuing its Coastal Cars & Coffee Summer Series, bringing specialty vehicles, automotive enthusiasts, and visitors to Fort Myers Beach throughout the summer months.
This July, What’s Up FMB will host Mullet Madness, a lighthearted island-wide event celebrating creativity, community participation, and local businesses through themed activities, contests, and business-to-business engagement.
The organization recently launched its Individual Membership Program and Member Perks initiative, providing residents and visitors with opportunities to support the nonprofit while enjoying special offers from participating member businesses.
As Fort Myers Beach continues to recover, grow, and evolve, What’s Up FMB remains focused on creating opportunities that benefit the entire community.
“Our mission has always been simple,” Miller said. “We want to help people discover, explore, and experience everything that makes Fort Myers Beach special while supporting the businesses and organizations that help our island thrive.”
