Shovels hit the ground back in 2015. Lee County has said all along that road construction on Estero Boulevard will be done by the end of 2021. Lee County Department of Transportation Senior Engineer Rob Phelan gave the town council an update on the project Thursday. Here’s what he said…
When asked if the project would be done by the end of 2021 Phelan said, “Ideally, we’ll be finished by the end of the year. There may be some stuff that carries over into next year.” Phelan added that there have been a lot of surprises along the way.
In addition to the road reconstruction and bike lane additions, new water mains and an improved drainage system are being installed. It has been a very complicated project. By all accounts, once portions of the Boulevard are completed, people are very happy with the results.
Next week paving will being around Santini Plaza.
The project began in 2015.
