And that new location will be on the Bay Oaks property. Right now the town rents a slew of trailers from the state and they sit on property owned by the Fort Myers Beach Fire District.
The town is hoping to be in new trailers on the Bay Oaks property that will include administrative offices, council chambers where town council meetings will be held and a one-stop facility where residents can get all of their questions answered.
Town Manager Andy Hyatt’s vision is to eventually build one big building on the Bay Oaks property that includes Town Hall and a Bay Oaks recreational building. The trailers will be home to the government operations for the next 3-4 years while the longer term plans are finalized.
The old Town Hall on Estero Boulevard was completely destroyed by Hurricane Ian. It took over 10 months for FEMA to give its final approval to demolish the building which was done two weeks ago.
Interesting. I wonder what the town will do with current town hall location if town hall moves to Bay Oaks permanently. I’m sure any large lot on Estero Blvd is quite valuable.
Huh?? You’ve missed some news. The town is in discussions with the FD to swap properties.
