On Tuesday, the Fort Myers Beach Local Planning Agency unanimously approved SanCap Bank’s plans to build a new facility on property they purchased across from the library two years ago. When asked by LPA members when construction would start, the only answer given by SanCap representatives was “soon.”
It’s been over 2 years since SanCap Bank announced the purchase of a .41 acre piece of property on Estero Boulevard with plans to open in 2026. Nothing has happened since that announcement.
During the LPA meeting Tuesday, representatives from SanCap pitched their new building plans which include “an elevated two-story bank/office structure above an open ground level containing access, service functions, storage, drive-through facilities, and landscaped/open areas.” They requested several variances that were all approved.
SanCap Bank purchased the .41 acre piece of land located at 2670/2680 Estero Boulevard for $1.795 million. Prior to Hurricane Ian, the building on
that lot was a real estate office with a vacation rental above the office. After the purchase SanCap announced plans to break ground in early 2025 and be open in 2026.
We reached out to SanCap to see if they have a planned ground breaking date in mind. A spokesperson said, “We’re pleased to have received unanimous approval from the LPA, marking an important milestone for the project. While we don’t have a confirmed groundbreaking date just yet, we’re excited to continue moving forward and share more details as planning progresses.”
