The Margaritaville resort is on schedule, according to TPI’s Tom Torgerson, the developer of the new resort being built near the base of the Matanzas Pass Bridge on both sides of Estero Boulevard.
The project broke ground in August of 2021 with a planned opening in August of 2023. You can watch our most recent video of the construction from this past weekend HERE.
According to TPI Chief Operating Officer Robert Kisabeth, who was also at the town council meeting, TPI is now actively recruiting for a manager of the Fort Myers Beach facility with a goal of having its full management team in place 6 months before the resort opens. Between 250 and 300 people will be hired to work at the resort. Kisabeth is also a member of the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Like many construction projects taking place around the country, TPI is also dealing with inflation and supply-chain issues. Torgerson told the Fort Myers Beach town council on Monday the project is in “ramping-up mode” and the biggest vulnerability he sees moving forward is the 2022 hurricane season.
The resort will feature over 200 rooms (most with a view of the beach), a 5000sq ft ballroom, and a large elevated terrace to host special events. The main hotel will be connected to the beach via a safe, easy to access walkover, where guests can lounge by a large pool, grab a bite to eat or drink and enjoy live entertainment. There will also be 30 beachfront suites with amazing views of the gulf and its spectacular sunsets.
