Turtle Time reports that as of the end of this week, there are 74 nests on Fort Myers Beach (up from 60 last week). There have also been 107 false crawls (up from 93 last week). Here’s how that stacks up against Sanibel, Captiva and Bonita.
SCCF reports Sanibel now has a total of 372 nests, up from 300 last week.
On the east end of Sanibel there are now 69 nests (up from 62), including 3 green turtles. East has had 102 false crawls, up from 73 last week.
On the west end there now 303 nests (up from 238 last week), including 3 green turtles. West has had 355 false crawls, up from 283 last week.
Captiva now has 139 nests (up from 119 last week) with 210 false crawls (up from 170).
Bonita Beach now has 179 nests (up from 149 last week) and 177 false crawls (up from 158 last week).

Please do your part and fill in holes in the sand, remove beach furniture and other objects that would obstruct the path of a turtle and please remember to close your drapes at night, turn off or shield exterior lights..…or better yet…use Amber LED bulbs for outside illumination. Don’t use flashlights, cell phones or take a flash photo of a sea turtle if you are lucky enough to witness one crawling onto the beach.
