Art Classes Announced at Lovers Key

The Welcome and Discovery Center at Lovers Key State Park has announced a long roster art classes and programs. The new “Nature in Mind” Art Classes on canvas and other creative art projects will be held with Award Winning Artist, Jenny M. Licht, Artist-in-Residence, Lovers Key State Park.

Jenny is a professional, award-winning working artist with a degree in art with painting emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.  Jenny has been teaching art to adults and children throughout SW Florida for the past 8 years.  Her Wissota Art Studio is located in Bella Terra, where she also conducts classes by invitation.

Pre-paid registration is required. A minimum of 5 participants are required.  Class size is limited. Pre-registration and pre-payment will be required through Eventbrite.  See samples of Jenny’s work on her website: www.wissotaart.

ART CLASS Sea Star on Canvas with Fanciful Border
10:00am -Noon
$35 per person. Pre-registration required.
Class held at the Welcome and Discovery Center at Lovers Key State Park.
The Sea Star is a sea lover’s favorite, as they come in all shapes and colors. The expressionistic watery background is ideal for students to choose the color of their sea star or go with the sample provided.

All materials provided: Gallery wrapped 11” x 14” canvas, use of brushes and apron, palette, easel, acrylic paint, paint cloths and other supplies, as well as step by step art guidance. Color choices, composition, paint application and techniques as well as other art topics are discussed during the class session with an emphasis on the connection between art and nature. You’ll leave with a beautiful completed masterpiece ready to hang when you get home. After Art Class join in the free Art Journaling Walk!

Choose from two available walks, 12:30pm or 1:30pm.
Free journals and pencils are included in the free hour-long nature-walk art lessons.
Group size is limited to the first 15 participants to arrive. A Park Ranger may accompany the group to answer questions about flora and fauna of the Park. Depending on availability, Jenny will release Monarch or other butterflies that she raises.

ART CLASS Painting a Sea Turtle with Palette Knife on Canvas Art Class
9:30am – 12:30pm
$49 per person. Pre-registration required.
Instructor: Jenny M. Licht, Artist-in-Residence, Lovers Key State Park
Class held at the Welcome and Discovery Center at Lovers Key State Park.
This classic and favored image of the Sea Turtle rendered with a palette knife instead of a brush gives a loose and relaxed affect. Painting with a knife produces a different result from using a brush. Painting knives are excellent for producing textured effect when using provided impasto. All supplies included in the class fee. Provided 11” x 14” gallery wrapped canvas, use of palette knife and apron, palette, acrylic paint, impasto for texture, Sea Turtle template, paint cloths as well as step by step art guidance. Color choices, composition, paint application, shading and palette knife techniques as well as other art topics are discussed during the class session an emphasis on the connection between art and nature. Sample artwork provided. Class size limited and all levels or art ability or interest are welcome. After Art Class join in the free Art Journaling Walk!

A black background provides an ideal contrasting background for a Sand Dollar. After completing the artwork, people will want to touch your Sand Dollar art work, as it looks so real! All supplies included in the class fee. Provided 11” x 14” gallery wrapped canvas, use of apron, palette, acrylic paint, paint cloths, as well as step by step art guidance. Color choices, composition, paint application, shading and techniques as well as other art topics are discussed during the class session with an emphasis on the connection between art and nature.
