The United States Army Corps of Engineers will make releases east, west and south out of Lake Okeechobee, beginning tomorrow, due to heavier-than-normal rainfall that has kept the lake at an abnormally high level this dry season.

This 90-minute presentation by former Sanibel Town Manager Judy Zimomra will cover what every Florida resident, property owner and taxpayer should know about local government. It's being held at the Naples Center and also online, March 6th at 1:30PM.

The Fort Myers Beach sand truck haul project began this week. 112,000 tons of beach compatible sand from a mine in Immokalee will replace sand eroded away by Hurricane Ian. The entire project is expected to take 3 months.

After a flurry of activity yesterday, initiated by Fort Myers Beach Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt, the latest news about the 7-11 across from Santini Plaza is that FPL has moved the location up on its priority list. The monopoly now says it will get power to the 7-11 within 72 hours or less.

For years the town has accused Key Estero Shops owner Carmine Naccarato of operating an illegal parking lot on his property on Estero Boulevard. On Monday the town was one step closer to foreclosing on Naccarato's property.

On Thursday, it appears, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council, will vote at least one more time to try to fill the seat left vacant when Bill Veach quit the council at the end of 2023. All five candidates who submitted applications for the seat remain in the running.

It's called Love Fest and it's being held Wednesday at the home of Kim and David Hambor in Fort Myers. Tables will be set up from local artists, there will be music, a food truck and a silent auction all to benefit FMB Strong on Fort Myers Beach.

Tomorrow from 4PM to 8PM, Beach Talk Radio and The Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club are hosting Southside Sunset Saturday Concert featuring Stephen Clark and Wayward Souls. All 300 tickets have been sold.
