New Shell & Mollusk Program Announced
The National Shell Museum on Sanibel has announced the New Sunrise Shell and Mollusk Stroll program. Participants will join a marine biologist from the Museum on an early-morning beach walk to learn about local mollusks and their shells, and to search for living mollusks.
Beach Kiwanis Presents Check for Special Olympics Event
Fort Myers Beach Kiwanis held its first meeting of the year last month at Bonita Bills. The guest speaker was Todd Dusenberry, who's an ESE teacher at Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts.
Controversial Dune Walkover Has Been Built
After years of court fights, tens of thousands of dollars in attorney fees, and years of fighting between the homeowners and town staff and government, Eddie Rood and Kurt Kroemer have built their 293-foot walkway to the beach. The wooden walkway took two weeks to build.

The Lee County Recovery Task Force is launching an online survey for public engagement to provide residents an opportunity to review and comment on draft Initiative Profiles for the ResilientLee Recovery and Resilience Plan. The survey will go live next week HERE.
Those Artistic Street Signs Are Coming Down
They were the first signs of the beach vibe returning to Fort Myers Beach after Hurricane Ian. Volunteers painted and installed colorful street signs all over Estero Boulevard after the storm destroyed nearly every sign on the island. The Town Manager says they are coming down.
Allers, Atterholt Stay in Charge
On Monday at the Fort Myers Beach Town Council meeting, Dan Allers was voted in as Mayor of Fort Myers Beach and Jim Atterholt was voted in as Vice Mayor. Every November the Town Council has to vote in a Mayor and Vice Mayor for one year.

Is The Beach Rebuild Too Slow?
Fort Myers Beach LPA member Patrick Vanasse says it is and he wants to move the process along. Vanasse has come up with 3 options he wants both the LPA and Town Council to consider that he believes will get smaller businesses rebuilding faster and give big developers clearer direction.
The Fort Myers Beach Pier Rebuild Begins
Lee County Commissioner Brian Hamman told Beach Talk Radio Thursday that FEMA has given the county the go ahead to start the process to design and rebuild the Fort Myers Beach pier and Lynn Hall Park bathrooms.
Botana’s Plan B to Dissolve The FMB Fire District
A new Bill to dissolve the Fort Myers Beach Fire District will be taken up on November 30th at a delegation meeting of Southwest Florida state legislators in Fort Myers. Representative Adam Botana is pushing the merger because he believes it will save Florida taxpayers money.
