The Miller's (pictured here with Katie Moses), donated a 2023 Kawasaki Mule UTV and a 2023 Polaris Ranger UTV (valued at $30,000) to Lovers Key State Park. Here's an update on when the park might open.

According to a letter the Lee County School Board sent to members of the Fort Myers Beach School ad-hoc committee, demolition on the Beach School should begin June 14th and the kids should be able to return to their school on Monday, November 13th.

Triple A has just released findings from a new survey that states 24% of Floridians say they would ignore warnings to evacuate in the event of a hurricane.

Mike and Dawn Miller, the owners of The Whale on Fort Myers Beach, have announced June 17th will their one-year anniversary party. The Whale was destroyed by Hurricane Ian. The Miller's plan to rebuild the popular restaurant and are now working through the permit phase

Hurricane season started this week (June 1) and runs through November 30. Lee County is hosting a workshop to help you prepare. Speakers will share best practices, lessons learned and offer guidance on how to prepare for hurricane season.

The June Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce membership luncheon is being held at Parrot Key Restaurant on June 8th at 11:30. The speakers are Christopher Cibula and Wendy Matura from RTI Insurance Services.

Keep Lee County Beautiful is in need of boaters and kayakers to participate in their waterway cleanup Saturday from 8am-12pm. In collaboration with Moss Marina and the Mound House, KLCB will be cleaning the Fort Myers Beach Yacht Basin and the Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve.

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has donated $50,000 to the Fort Myers Beach Chamber. The Chamber office on Estero Boulevard was totally destroyed in the storm and all Chamber supplies and office furniture was also lost.  

Underneath the ruins of Beach Baptist Church, neighborhood residents and elected officials attended an informational meeting about a proposed redevelopment plan for the Beach Baptist property. Most of the chatter had to do with a plan to plop an 8-story 40-unit condo building right on the edge of Estero Boulevard.

An official groundbreaking ceremony for the $91 million Big Carlos Pass Bridge replacement will be held this morning at 10 a.m. and Beach Talk Radio will be there to cover the event live. The bridge connects the south end of Fort Myers Beach to Lover’s Key on Estero Boulevard. The project starts this Summer.

Wednesday night La Ola restaurant owner Thomas Houghton welcomed about 100 of his friends to his new location in Bell Tower at the corner of Daniels Boulevard and 41. It was a private gathering of mostly Fort Myers Beach people sampling the menu and chit-chatting about their piece of paradise.
