Beach Budget Hearings Set
The two Fort Myers Beach public hearings on the 2022-2023 budget, which begins on October 1st, will be held Thursday, September 8th at 5:01 p.m. and Thursday, September 22nd at 5:01 p.m.
Shell Museum Welcomes New Octopus
In June, the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum’s Giant Pacific Octopus began the natural process of senescence, or end of life. The museum has welcomed a new resident Giant Pacific Octopus who is adjusting very well to his new home.
Beach Building Sells For $4.5 Million
The building that sits on the corner of Times Square at 1028 Fifth street just sold for $4.5 million. The building, which is now home to Coldstone Creamery (800 square feet) and a t-shirt shop (2000 square feet), sold for $625,000 in 2009.
‘Ding’ Darling Photo Contest Opens
July 15 marks the opening of the 30th annual “Ding” Darling Amateur Photo Contest. Cash award prizes are $300 for first place, $225 for second, and $175 for third.
Shuckers Event Raises Just Under $4,000
Shuckers at the Gulfshore and The Cottage Bar hosted a fundraiser for Fort Myers Beach first responders this past Saturday during The Cottage Revitalization Celebration. $3,700 was raised.

Greenwell Hosting Kick-Off Party
Former Boston Red Sox star Mike Greenwell, who lives in Alva, is running for the Lee County Board seat now open after the passing of Commissioner Frank Mann. On July 14th from 5:30-7PM Greenwell is hosting a campaign kick-off celebration at 31 Produce in Alva. Greenwell will be on Beach Talk Radio two days later.
