Hospital Visitations Return
With COVID-19 cases declining every week in Lee County (78 as of today), visitation restrictions have been lifted at all Lee Health Hospitals.
Next Lee County Chemical Pickup
On Wednesday, November 17th, the Lee County Solid Waste Department will host their next free drop-off of household chemical waste from 8 a.m. to noon at Bay Oaks.

2021 American Sand Sculpting Championships Canceled
The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce has canceled the 10-day event due to COVID. With the amount of time needed to plan the event and the number of international participants it was decided the event needed to be canceled this year. It's the second year the event had to be canceled due to COVID.
New Bay Oaks 15-25% Over Budget
Several years back the Fort Myers Beach Town Council borrowed $10 million to help pay for upgrades to Times Square, Bayside Park and Bay Oaks. Shovels have not yet hit the ground on any of the three.
Council To Meet With Public Safety Committee
Back on September 24th we reported on the frustrations the Fort Myers Beach Public Safety Committee members expressed when they put forth recommendations to the Council that are consistently ignored. Committee Chair John Goggin requested a joint meeting to discuss their working relationship.
SCCF CEO Leaving At End of Year
SCCF CEO Ryan Orgera has announced he'll be leaving SCCF at the end of the year. He's accepted a job as the first Global Director of an international fisheries management project that will seek to identify and fight against corruption in large-scale, industrial fisheries around the world.
New Chief To Be Sworn In Next Week
New Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief Ron Martin will officially be sworn in on Wednesday, October 27th at 5PM at the Fort Myers Beach Library. Martin is replacing Matt Love who accepted a job as Fire Chief in Minnesota. The ceremony is open to the public.
