The family of former Fort Myers Beach Mayor Dan Hughes is holding a memorial service tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 at The Mound House. Hughes passed away in July of 2021 at the age of 91. If you plan to attend RSVP HERE.

(By Kim Ryan) February 15th marked the official start of Snowy Plover (Charadrius Nivosus) nesting season in the state of Florida. Typically, on Sanibel, the first nests are located in late March or early April which makes spring a great time to get out on the beaches of Southwest Florida to look for shorebirds and seabirds.

Lee County Parks & Recreation will host an open house Monday, March 7, at the Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center, on Bass Road in Fort Myers regarding the Sanibel Causeway Islands Park Improvement project. There has been some concern raised from residents about the improvements.

The new season of Beach Little League is about to begin and the kids can use a little help this year. The main league fundraiser is parking cars during the annual Sand Sculpting Championships and because that event has been postponed for the last two years, your sponsorship will help.
