A Possible Town Council Candidate
Tim Shadle will be our 9:30 guest on Beach Talk Radio Saturday morning. Tim has become a regular speaker at town council meetings, at times expressing his frustration with the pavers on Estero Boulevard. He's considering running for one of the two Town Council seats up for election this November.
Big Turtles Take a Beating in 2021
In 2021, the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Commission documented 43 stranded turtles (40 found dead and 3 alive). The majority of the strandings (29) were loggerheads, followed by 8 Kemp's ridleys and 6 greens.

Hernstadt: We Need More Money
On Monday Fort Myers Beach Town Manager Roger Hernstadt told the town council there's not enough money to cover the town's three major renovation projects; Bayside Park, Bay Oaks and Times Square. And, while no exact amount was given, it appears as if the projects are under-funded by millions of dollars.
What to Do With $3.5 Million
As part of the federal American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 Fort Myers Beach will be receiving a total of $3,553,046. Half of that money has already arrived. The feds have established very specific rules on how the money can be spent and they are all related to COVID.
Parking is Now $5.00 Per Hour
Shortly after the Monday Fort Myers Beach Town Council concluded its Monday meeting, local residents started seeing the new signs promoting the $2.00 per-hour increase. It now costs $5.00 per hour for town owned parking spots.
