The Fencing is Up at Bayside Park
It looks like work is set to begin on the rehabilitation of Bayside Park. Fencing has been put up in the area of the construction zone and business owners in the area have told us they are starting to see activity.

January 18, 2022 was John Goggin's last day serving on the Fort Myers Beach public safety committee. He also served on the town's audit committee, both for a little over 3 years. Goggin leaves behind very big shoes to fill and a healthy serving of outstanding community service.
Update From The Margaritaville Developers
In case you were unaware, TPI, the development company building the new resort on Fort Myers Beach, regularly provides updates on the project on its Facebook page. A recent post which showed the finished layout with a focus on the Fins Up Beach Club triggered two questions.
Town to Spend $1 Million For Mooring Field Properties
The Fort Myers Beach Town Council is purchasing this property at 166 Chapel street and 99 Tropical Shores Way for residents of the mooring field. Taxpayers will be buying the half acre of property (the lots face each other) from Gordon Zeng for $1 million.
Town Hosting Cruiser Appreciation Day
The Fort Myers Beach Anchorage Advisory Committee is hosting the 13th annual Cruiser's Appreciation Day under the Matanzas Pass Bridge Friday, March 25, from 1 to 5 p.m. The event will include food, drink and entertainment. Follow the Matanzas Pass Cruisers on Facebook HERE.
Shell Museum on Sanibel Lands Big Speaker
The third talk in the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum’s 2022 Lecture Series is Wednesday, February 16, at 5:30pm. Shell Trumpets: The Sound Heard Around the World, will be led by Dr. Bradley Strauchen-Scherer, Curator of Musical Instruments at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Do You Own an Electric Vehicle?
If you do, you may soon be able to charge that vehicle in a prime Fort Myers Beach parking spot. The town is considering a partnership with FPL to convert four regular parking spots, into spots for electric vehicle only, behind WINDS in the Times Square area.
DDWS Closes on 8.5-Acre Acquisition
After more than six years in the making, the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge closed on an 8.5-acre land addition to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel.
Mars Concert is Next Week

State Fish Art Contest Returns
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, in partnership with Wildlife Forever, is hosting the Florida State Fish Art Contest again this year. Students up to 12th grade can compete in this free contest for a chance to win state and national honors, and prizes.
Lovers Key Boat Show is This Weekend
The 7th annual Lovers Key Boat Show, Market and Seafood Fest will take place this weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Suggested $5.00 donation to enter with proceeds going to Lovers Key State Park, and the Bonita Rotary Club. Kids under 9 are free and leashed dogs are welcome.
Town To Consider Foreclosing on Code Violators
On Monday the Town Council started the process of going after 4 Fort Myers Beach property owners that continue to snub their nose at the town, repeatedly violating the town code, and in some cases, profiting from those code violations.
