The discussion over whether or not Fort Myers Beach should pay for two Lee County Sheriff's deputies from the LCSO community policing program became heated Thursday night. And when Mayor Ray Murphy spoke up, things turned a little odd.

Pier Expected to Open Today

The Fort Myers Beach Fishing Pier at Lynn Hall Memorial Park, which has been closed since August 16th, is expected to re-open today. The pier work took one week longer than expected due to delays caused by all the rain we've had recently.

Town Staff to Manage Mooring Field Services

While the restrooms facilities, the dock, trash, water and laundry for mooring field residents will continue to be provided by Matanzas, the Fort Myers Beach town staff will take over management of those services from Matanzas next month.

Is Chief Love Taking a Job in Minnesota?

Speculation is that Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief Matt Love may be taking the job as Fire Chief in St. Could Minnesota. The St. Cloud Fire Department is now being run, on an interim basis, by a former St. Cloud Fire Chief Bill Mund.

Lee County COVID Cases Declining

Over the past week cases of COVID have dropped significantly at Lee Health System facilities. On August 26th, 657 cases were reported. That number dropped under 600, to 596 yesterday. Thursday was only the second time in a month more patients were discharged than admitted.
