The Boat Parade is This Weekend

The 32nd annual Fort Myers Beach Christmas Boat Parade is scheduled to roll down the Back Bay Saturday evening. The parade begins at Salty Sam’s Marina and will pass many restaurants on the Back Bay.

Town Staff Dealing With Positive COVID Results

Over the holiday break Town Manager Roger Hernstadt informed the town council that several members of the town's workforce had tested positive for COVID-19. The first announced positive test was an intern in the town finance department.

Big Week For Bay Oaks Project

It's really unknown where the Bay Oaks renovation project stands as of now. The Bay Oaks committee (which meets this morning at 9AM) recently voted 7-0 to not support the town manager's most recent design for the renovation of Bay Oaks. The Town Council has the item on its Management & Planning meeting this Thursday at 9AM.

All holiday weekend long Fort Myers Beachgoers had to navigate a little extra water on the sand. Many believe the problem was caused by the last big storm that came through the area and washed out a lot of the sand leaving holes large enough that eventually filled up with water.

Will Your Clock Be Saved?

That will be the first item on the town council's Management & Planning meeting Thursday at 9 a.m. (which we will carry live on our Facebook page). As of now, the plan is to remove the clock once Times Square is renovated. The Town Manager claims the clock is too difficult to find parts for. Many local residents want the clock to be saved.

Big Party At Pete’s Tomorrow

Saturday is the 31st Annual 30th Anniversary Party at Pete's Time Out. December 1st was the actual day, 30 years ago, that John and Debbie Lallo purchased Pete's from John's Mom and Dad, Pete and Peg. Pete's Time Out opened on December 1, 1983. The anniversary celebration begins at noon tomorrow. 

Chamber Breakfast Should Be Scrumptious

The Chamber's December Coffee Connection will be at Truly Scrumptious Thursday from 7:30 to 9. Breakfast will be provided and is free for Chamber members and non-members. The event will be in compliance with social distancing guidelines with masks required and temperatures taken at the door.

The Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club is hosting its 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Festival & Auction tonight and tomorrow at the historic Woman’s Club Clubhouse. 17 Christmas trees will be up for auction to help raise money for local non-profits. This year you will also be able to bid on the trees online.

Lani Kai Murder Update: Still No Arrest

We checked in with the Lee County Sheriff to get an update on whether an arrest has been made in the killing of 22-year old Johnny Jackson four months ago at the Lani Kai. The response we received "it's an active investigation." Meanwhile two lawsuits against the hotel are ongoing in the 12th Judicial Circuit Court in Lee County. Here's an update on those...

Bayside Committee Wants Face Time With Council

A group of local business owners met this week to discuss plans they'd like to see developed at Bayside Park. The area is located between Nervous Nellie's and Snug Harbor down Old San Carlos Boulevard. It's one of three projects the town has borrowed $10 million for to redevelop. So far the group has not heard back from the town to set up a meeting.
