Every year the Florida Association of Special Districts recognizes one district manager who meets the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and  transparent governmental services to the citizens in the state. Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief  Matt Love has been awarded the FASD District Manager of the Year  award for 2020.

The group hoping to find a home for what's left of the historic arches that were once the gateway to Fort Myers Beach heard more disappointing news last week. From 1924-1979 the arches welcomed both residents home and visitors to their favorite vacation location.

Lee County Leads The State in Manatee Deaths

FWC has released preliminary 2019 manatee mortality numbers and of the 606 total deaths in the state that year, 144 of them were in Lee County. 27 of the 144 in Lee County were killed by watercraft, 2 in Fort Myers Beach.
