Town Council Takes First Step to Raise Your Taxes
Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt tried to convince his colleagues to sell the land the old town hall once occupied to help replenish the town's emergency funds but three members of the Town Council would have none of it and moved to raise the millage rate. Councilman John King joined Atterholt in opposition of a higher rate.

Town Council Approves New Myerside
On Monday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council held its second public hearing to consider the new Myerside Resort and voted 4-1 to approve the project. The 53,463 square foot boutique resort will include 45 hotel rooms, and four live/work units. Mayor Dan Allers opposed the project.
Sandy Bottom’s Receives Final Council Approval
On Monday, by a vote of 5-0, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council approved plans for Mike and Dawn Miller to convert the former Tuckaway Cafe building at 2301 Estero Boulevard to a restaurant/bar called Sandy Bottom's. The Miller's hope to be open by October.
The New Cottage Receives Final Approval
On Monday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council vote 5-0 giving the owners of The Cottage final approval to rebuild. Earlier this month the LPA unanimously approved the proposal which will bring back one of the most popular beachside establishments.

Town Hires New Planner
Judith Frankel is now onboard with the Town of Fort Myers Beach. Her official title is Principal Planner and she'll report to Operations & Compliance Director Frankie Kropacek. Frankel comes to Fort Myers Beach from Surfside Florida.
