Last week we had quite a lively conversation about biking and e-biking on Estero Boulevard on the Beach Talk Radio Facebook page. This Tuesday at 9AM, the Public Safety Committee will be discussing the town's messaging about bike safety.

With season winding down, the LeeTran free Tram on Fort Myers Beach will stop operating on Wednesday, April 24th. The Tram runs from Bowditch Beach to the Library on Estero Boulevard every season and is paid for by Lee County TDC funds.

McMurray & Members of Royal Shell Real Estate are hosting an open house Saturday for their Gulfside Twelve condos on Estero Boulevard. The open house had to be rescheduled from last month due to bad weather.

KLCB is hosting its third annual bowling tournament Sunday, April 28th at Lightning Strikes in Fort Myers. Funds from the event support Keep Lee County Beautiful’s programs and events focused on protecting the environment and improving the quality of life in Lee County. 

Rebecca Link believes some Fort Myers Beach residents are. Link is the town liaison to the Lee County CDBG-DR funding program and she wants to help beach residents apply for the money.

Sunday at Wahoo Willie's Fort Myers Beach Mayor Dan Allers answered questions about the town's National Flood Insurance Program discount downgrade. We asked him about the 105 properties on FEMA's list, all the work being done without permits, why this happened, and what his thoughts were on whether this can be reversed.

Mike and Dawn Miller will put shovels in the ground for the new Whale on Friday, May 17th at 1PM. The Whale will be the first new restaurant/bar to be rebuilt after Hurricane Ian. The plan is to be open in the fall of 2025. Beach Talk Radio will broadcast the groundbreaking live.

The “Ding” Darling Visitor & Education Center will reopen tomorrow, after closing down to complete post-hurricane renovations.

Coastal Engineering President Michael Poff told the Fort Myers Beach Town Council this week that the current truck-haul beach renourishment project should be complete by June 1st with the big dredging project beginning in June. He says the goal is to have everything done by November 1st.
