The Neighborhood Company has been hired to create a rendering design of the future Times Square on Fort Myers Beach. Times Square was demolished by Hurricane Ian on September 28, 2022 and the property owners in that area have been less than aggressive about rebuilding.

Dixie Fish Company on Fort Myers Beach recently celebrated its ninth anniversary. Originally built in 1937 as The Dixie Fish Co., the tin-roofed, open-air building has survived many hurricanes. Storm surge during Ian reached 18 feet, closing the restaurant for months.

On Wednesday the Lee County Procurement Management Department chose international company Stantec Consulting Services to design and permit (not build) the Fort Myers Beach pier. It's the first step in what's expected to be a 4-year process to rebuild the structure.

The Fort Myers beach Town Council approved $2.7 million from an $8 million Florida Department of Emergency Management grant to begin hauling new sand onto Fort Myers Beach. The project could begin at the end of next week.
