Mark Ashton was introduced to the Fort Myers Beach Town Council Monday. He's the most recent hire made by Town Manager Andy Hyatt and is the town's new Public Works & Utilities Director.

At their meeting on January 19th, the Fort Myers Beach Kiwanis Club heard from Youth and Teen Program Director at Bay Oaks Jimmy DeMilia. Kiwanis presented DeMilia with a $500 check for the Bay Oaks Youth Programs.

The 12th annual Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club Putt & Pub, held this past Saturday, took in a total of $70,000. After expenses the Woman's Club will be donating $55,000 to Fort Myers Beach nonprofits.

So far we know that Lagoon Road resident Ed Schoonover has submitted an application to the council for the open seat and LPA member Scott Safford is expected to file today. Schoonover will be our 11:30 guest at Margaritaville tomorrow.

Nearly 480 days after the wind and water brought on by Hurricane Ian severely damaged Nervous Nellie's, the popular Fort Myers Beach restaurant is ready to reopen.

State Representative Adam Botana is on a mission to merge several of the fire districts in his voting district. After an attempt to pursue a merger of the Bonita Springs Fire District with Fort Myers Beach failed, Botana came back with plan B.

The owners of the small hotel located on the Gulf of Mexico side at 4360 Estero Boulevard have submitted a pre-application to town staff to get feedback for a proposed 4-story building with 15 units, 3 more than they had pre-Ian.

And that money will be donated to the Fort Myers Beach Elementary School. The event was sponsored by Leadership Lee County's Class of 2023. They chose the Beach School to donate the money to from their annual service project.

The Fort Myers Beach Elementary School is back in full swing. However, Hurricane Ian wiped out everything in the school, including supplies, furniture, every #2 pencil in the building, and other items teachers and staff at the school need.
