LPA Member Jim Boan has filed for the open seat on the Fort Myers Beach Town Council. He’ll be our guest Saturday morning at 10AM. We’re moving the show inside to Lah De Dah at Margaritaville Saturday due to the frigid temperatures.
There are 3 beach residents hoping to be appointed to the seat. Boan joins John McLean and Tom Brady who’ve also filed for the seat. The plan is to have the seat filled at the February 17th town council meeting when the vote will take place and the winner of that vote will immediately take the seat.
Three votes from the 4 sitting council members are needed. The deadline to apply is February 2nd.
Boan also applied for a seat on council when Bill Veach quit that eventually went to Scott Safford.

I feel the members of the LPA have so much more knowledge going into a Town Council seat than anyone who hasn’t served in that capacity. They have had to prepare for all the properties that have come before the LPA and had to make decisions on the future of those properties. No one could step into the Council seat easier than either of the two LPA member could! I will hate to lose either one of them on the LPA but feel it will be a good move for the Town Council!
