Beach Talk Radio was at the latest ground breaking ceremony, this one for the brand new Goodz building on Estero Boulevard next to the Key Estero Shopping Plaza. Graham and Meagan Belger are the owners and were very thankful to everyone who helped them get to their golden shovel day. Watch the ground breaking HERE on Facebook or HERE on YouTube.
The project was approved by the town in December of 2024 and is expected to take a year to complete.
After announcing the ground breaking, Graham told Beach Talk Radio, “I didn’t fight to rebuild because it was the easy choice. I fought because I love this island, I gre up here, I believe in its future, and I wanted to be part of bringing it back.”
On the ground level will be the “hardware store” that sells everything including ice cream. The upstairs will be an arcade for kids and a pizza restaurant that also serves beer and wine.
With Michael Stewart P.E. part of this rebuild the structure will be built to withstand the strongest Category 5 Hurricane.
Based on the prior article, it will take at least five years for them to get through permitting. I wouldn’t hold your breath on it opening anytime soon.
Congratulations to the Goodz! They have had a journey to get to this point, thanks for sticking with it and hope you’re rebuilding is quick and smooth.
