Everyone on Fort Myers Beach knows Mike Dagnese. You may have seen him on the beach. You’ve probably seen him speak at public comment at a town council meeting. Now he needs to hear from us. Mike is recovering from a lung transplant in Tampa and his family is trying to raise a little money to help with his recovery.
Once someone is placed on the transplant list, life can change in an instant. For Mike, that call came after only 48 hours, leaving the whole family in shock. Along with the overwhelming emotions of that moment came deep gratitude for the organ donor who gave them more time with their dad, husband, and papa. It was a life-changing gift, and now the family is doing everything they can to help him focus on recovery.
After the transplant, Mike and Lynne have to relocate to Tampa for about 3 to 4 months so he can stay near the hospital during recovery. The biggest need right now is housing. The cost of renting in Tampa is far more than the family expected, and because the transplant happened so quickly, there was very little time to prepare for this sudden move. Mike is not someone who would normally ask for help, which is why his family is asking on his behalf. Any donation, no matter the size, will help ease the financial stress of housing for Sam and Saras dad and mom during this critical recovery period.
