Keep Lee County Beautiful has added new cleanup sites for the annual International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 19th, giving even more volunteers the opportunity to participate in this countywide effort. Registration is now open, and residents, families, businesses, schools and community groups are encouraged to choose a location and sign up before sites reach capacity.
Now in its 37th year in Lee County, the International Coastal Cleanup is part of a global initiative led by Ocean Conservancy and one of the world’s largest volunteer efforts dedicated to removing litter from coastlines and waterways. Each year, volunteers around the world collect trash and record what they find, providing valuable information that helps advance solutions to marine debris.
“Every new cleanup site gives more people an opportunity to make a difference in their own community,” said Trish Fancher, Executive Director of Keep Lee County Beautiful. “With locations throughout Lee County, there are more ways than ever to get involved and help make this year’s International Coastal Cleanup a success.”
